the benefits of polarised sunglasses.

Updated: Feb 14, 2022

Wearing polarised sunglasses is a great way to improve vision quality and reduce the harmful effects of UV rays on your eyes. All nueva. sunglasses are fitted with prescription grade polarised lenses, designed to reduce glare from reflective surfaces such as roads, glass windows, the beach, and the ocean, whilst enhancing the quality of vision and preventing eye strain.

Glare isn’t just an annoying phenomenon, but can be dangerous in that it distorts the true colour of objects and makes them harder to see. Sun glare is often linked to traffic accidents. That being said, polarised lenses can help drivers see more clearly and avoid traffic hazards.

not all lenses are equal.

Don't be fooled by thinking that the darkness of the lens accurately reflects its ability to block the harmful rays of the sun. Wearing sunglasses with dark lenses which are not polarised causes your pupils to dilate, potentially increasing the risk of harmful UV rays entering and damaging your eyes. With polarised lenses, your pupils dilate, but the harmful UV rays are blocked. Be sure to use quality polarised sunglasses like nueva. sunglasses when it comes to protecting your eyes from the sun's harmful UV rays!

Importantly, all nueva. sunglass lenses have a back surface anti-reflective coating which prevents sunlight from reflecting into your eyes when the sun is behind you. This anti-reflective coating also blocks reflections from behind you, as the back surface of a sunglass lens has a mirror effect, which can be extremely annoying and disruptive.
